The
comfort, function & performance of your neoprene wetsuit gear
is
directly related to the maintenance & care.
Neoprene/Wetsuit
maintenance tips:
Rinse
your gear with fresh water after each use.
Use
a Biodegradable wetsuit shampoo that cleans, conditions and removes
salt, chlorine, odors, organic residues that will preserve your gear
for extended use. Do not use hot water, &
avoid hot surfaces, both compromise the integrity of the neoprene
wetsuit. Hang your neoprene
wetsuit gear on a
thick sturdy wooden or plastic hanger to dry in the shade. Sun will compromise the
integrity of the neoprene wetsuit. Turn the neoprene wetsuit
gear
inside out, be
sure zippers are completely unzipped. Wash the neoprene
wetsuit after using in salt or chlorinated water, chlorine
really
dries out neoprene. Never use harsh everyday
detergents to wash your neoprene wetsuit gear. Use very mild detergents,
eco-friendly, like Slosh, when the neoprene wetsuit starts to smell. Store neoprene wetsuit
gear on a thick
wooden or plastic hanger or flat & unfoldedin cool dry place. If the neoprene wetsuit
gear gets
stiff, rinse in warm water for a couple of hours, rinse & hang
dry. Keep sharp objects away
from neoprene wetsuit gear, if the neoprene wetsuit gets cut, nicked or
tears, use neoprene
glue & fix ASAP. Change in a clean area,
free from sand or dirt that could cut, nick or tear the neoprene
wetsuit gear. Do not wash in a washing
machine, tumble dry, iron, bleach or dry clean. Avoid contact
with oil, gasoline, aerosols, or chemical solvents. Try
not to urinate in the neoprene wetsuit gear, yes, it is warm but bad
for the neoprene. We know, we
know, it is like a prison sentence. Some real world tips:
If you have
to dry the
neoprene wetsuit gear in the sun for the next liquid session, turn it
inside out
& don't over dry. Always, always, always
carry some fresh water, big containers, in your vehicle for
maintenance, clean-up & thirst. No hanger, dry it laying
flat, and store it laying flat, or, yes, over the shower curtain rod,
inside out.
When you have to go, you have to go, be sure to rinse the
neoprene wetsuit gear completely when you exit the liquid. Use
a Biodegradable wetsuit shampoo that cleans, conditions and removes
salt, chlorine, odors, organic residues that will preserve your gear
for extended use.
Use Slosh on neoprene, lycra-rash guards,
clothing, sports equipment,
hair & body to remove salt, chlorine, odors and organic
residue.
Slosh conditions, preserves, & extends the life of your gear.

Aquaseal®
Urethane Repair Adhesive & Sealant
with Cotol-240™
What
is it? –
When
cured (dry) Aquaseal is a thick, clear, elastic urethane rubber.
How
it works? –
Aquaseal is applied to a hole or tear and allowed to
cure over a period of hours (usually 8-12).
When applied, Aquaseal cures by reacting with humidity
in the air. It doesn’t ‘dry’ the way other glues do. It changes from a
thick liquid to a thick, flexible, elastic rubber.
Once cured, it’s permanent. The repair will generally
last the life of the item.
For fast cure, use with Cotol-240™ Cure Accelerator.

About Neoprene including recycling properties
Neoprene
is a type of synthetic rubber also known as polychloroprene. DuPont is
the inventor of neoprene,
which is the trade name of this rubber product used in wetsuits, work
gloves, as electrical insulation and in a wide variety of other
commercial and industrial applications. It is available cured and
uncured and can be soft or hard. While neoprene
is widely used, it can in fact be recycled
– a welcomed point of fact in an environmentally conscious society.
Like other
types of rubber, recycledneoprene
is used in a variety of products from shoes, golf head covers to iPod
and laptop sleeves. Neoprene
is recycled
like other products and many waste management firms
offer rubber recycling services to industrial and manufacturing
companies.
Typically,
when neoprene
is recycled
to create new products, it is blended with other types of synthetic
rubbers. The properties of neoprene,
including its durability, insulation properties, and resistance to oil,
make it an ideal substance for a number of uses. By blending recycled
rubber products into new products, waste is minimized and costs are
lowered as well.
Some
of the more popular uses for neoprene
include medical bandages and braces, athletic shoe insoles, work
gloves and boots, electronic device protectors, wetsuits, and
automotive gaskets and pads. Where apparel and medical supports are
concerned, some people may have a skin-sensitive reaction to neoprene,
but its breathable, waterproof properties make it ideal for many
medical applications.
Neoprene
is also recycled
into sheets of rubber and also neoprene
fabric, sold by the yard just like other fabrics, and can be cut and
sewn. Sheets and fabrics are made into different thicknesses and
weights for a variety of applications. The number of products made from
recycledneoprene
and other synthetic rubbers is nearly endless. Besides the more popular
uses, you can also buy dumbbells and other exercise equipment as well
as wine totes and hats made from recycled
rubber products.
With
proper maintenance and care neoprene wetsuits will last a long time.
Wash them with an eco-friendly shampoo and hang dry them before
storing. Search out facilities that will recycle them to help maintain
are ecosystem. Function is more important than fashion, fix cuts and
tears instead of throwing the wetsuit in the trash. If you decide to
buy a new one, please, donate the old wetsuit to someone in
need
or dispose of the wetsuit environmentally conscious.
